Russian Beef Patties in Tomato Sauce
Juicy ground beef patties with garlic and parsley, fried until golden and bathed in homemade tomato sauce. A favorite with the little ones.

Ingredients

- ground beef1.25 lb
- egg1
- garlic clove3
- parsley2 tbsp
- breadcrumbs2 oz
- milk1.75 fl oz
- flour1.75 oz
- crushed tomato14 oz
- onion1
- sugar1 tsp
- olive oil0.75 cup
- salt1 pinch
- black pepper1 pinch
Method

Chop the onion and sauté it with 2 tablespoons of olive oil for 5 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, the sugar and a pinch of salt and cook 12 minutes over low heat.

Meanwhile, mince the garlic and parsley very fine.

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with the egg, garlic, parsley, the breadcrumbs soaked in milk, salt and black pepper.

Shape 8 round, flattened patties with damp hands.

Dredge each patty in flour and shake off the excess.

Fry the patties in the remaining hot olive oil, about 3 minutes per side, until golden. Drain on paper towels.

Serve the patties with the tomato sauce on top, or let them simmer in the sauce for 2 minutes.
