Macaroni with Meat and Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

- macaroni14 oz
- ground beef1 lb
- onion1
- garlic clove2
- crushed tomato1.75 lb
- grated cheese3.5 oz
- olive oil3 tbsp
- oregano1 tsp
- sugar1 tsp
- salt1 tsp
- black pepper1 pinch
Method

Bring plenty of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni according to the package. Drain and set aside.

Meanwhile, chop the onion and garlic and sauté in a large skillet with the olive oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until the onion is translucent.

Add the ground beef, season, and break it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until it loses its pink color.

Add the crushed tomatoes, the sugar to cut the acidity and the oregano. Let it simmer gently for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Toss the drained macaroni with the meat and tomato sauce and transfer to an ovenproof dish.

Top with grated cheese and broil at 220 °C (425 °F) for about 5 minutes, until golden.

Serve hot. If freezing, do it before browning and in portions.
